The County of Grande Prairie and City of Grande Prairie invite residents to celebrate Earth Day on Saturday, April 20, at the Montrose Cultural Centre in Teresa Sargent Hall.
The family-friendly drop-in event runs from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. and features engaging learning opportunities, demonstrations from local businesses, and activities for residents of all ages.
Event highlights include:
• A presentation on bee-friendly native plants and how to identify noxious weeds.
• A GP Grows Seed Bar, offering a choice of 13 seed varieties for residents’ to make their own customized gardens
• Opportunity to interact with a live hive of bees, providing a deeper understanding of the vital role played by pollinators.
• “Electric Avenue” showcase of electric vehicles on the south concourse
The event also includes interactive activities such as face painting, themed cookie decorating and demonstrations on sustainable practices and environmental stewardship initiatives from several local groups and organizations.
The City of Grande Prairie is offering complimentary city-wide transit throughout the day to commuters as part of its efforts to promote environmentally friendly transportation.
