The Grande Prairie Public Library (GPPL) is pleased to announce the upcoming Fables and Faeries Renaissance Faire, a community-wide celebration of creativity, imagination, and medieval-inspired fun. This family-friendly event will take place on Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in and around the Library.

Designed for attendees of all ages, GPPL’s Fables and Faeries Renaissance Faire invites the public to step into a whimsical world inspired by folklore, fantasy, and the Renaissance era. Visitors can enjoy live sword-fighting demonstrations, take part in hobby horse jousts, and embark on a building-wide Kingdom Quest Scavenger Hunt. Visitors can also head to the market in the Teresa Sargent Hall and purchase keepsakes from local vendors. Bandaged Paws will host a pet adoption event on-site, offering the opportunity to meet and adopt dogs from their rescue program.

Guests are also encouraged to explore the Crafters’ Croft in the Rotary Community Room and enjoy story time sessions in the Storytellers’ Shire, located in the Linda Smith Story Room. Food truck fare will be available for purchase from Cool Cat Grilled Cheese and Rollin’ Dough Cookies along the Mamawe concourse.

A community costume contest will begin at 11:30 a.m. and is open to participants of all ages. Attendees are invited to dress in their finest medieval or fantasy-inspired attire, with prizes awarded to the top three costumes overall.
